“Window seat”

36x36 Acrylic on canvas 2018

Here I solidified my obsession with texture. It is the backbone of every painting. I continue a conversation of perfection and illusion. I created this piece in a time when my only goal was the expression of raw emotions; providing for them a visible and tangible existence.

“…EMPATHY”

20X24

ACRYLIC AND PASTEL ON COTTON

FRAMED. 2017

A continued connection to metallic mediums. Here we define its reflective values, as both physical and metaphorical. An observer becomes, in that moment, a part of the expression.

“…THE DANCERS CASCADE”

24X30 ACRLYIC ON COTTON

2018

As an expression of memory, here I thought of all the value in depicting the idea of it, something that is incomplete, and imperfect.

I could have kept going, but I couldn’t commit to moving on. Some things are better left unfinished, couldn’t be more complete.

“PERSPECTIVE”

24X36 ACRYLIC,

OIL & ACRYLA GUACHE

COTTON. 2015

The third in a set of portraits, looking to depict women of color, using the beautiful yet harsh and reflective appearance of the earth metal imitations, copper and gold.. The soft nature of our complexion is enhanced by the connections we share with nature itself.

Movement is required to fully experience this expression. The subtle snarl increases when seen from new vantage points.

“Reasons pt 1”

Lull myself deep into.

“Reasons pt 2”

16 X 16 ACRYLIC ON CANVAS

2017

They make it look so easy, vulnerability.

“building a ladder, come thru”

12x36 Mounted birch

On the other side of depression its easy to see, but when you’re in the thick of it, who can tell what’s happening around you. The one thing you do know, is who was there for you, who showed up, when you couldn’t.
